Board-certified internal medicine physician. Founder and Medical Director of Sereno Medicine in San Antonio.

Kendrick Lopez, M.D. — concierge internal medicine physician and founder of Sereno Medicine, San Antonio

Dr. Lopez trained at UT Health Houston McGovern Medical School and completed his residency at NYU School of Medicine, where he remained on faculty as an Assistant Professor of Medicine.

He served as Medical Director of the Bellevue Hospital Ambulatory Care Clinic — one of the oldest and most storied public hospitals in the country — overseeing primary care delivery for a complex, high-volume patient population.

He returned to San Antonio to build a smaller, more deliberate internal medicine practice centered on continuity, access, and careful clinical judgment.

At Sereno Medicine, Dr. Lopez serves a deliberately limited panel of adult primary care members and personally manages inpatient care at Methodist Hospitals when members require admission. His practice emphasizes rigorous preventive medicine, evidence-based chronic disease management, and direct physician accessibility — the elements of primary care that have been eroded by volume-driven healthcare.

How Dr. Lopez practices

Dr. Lopez's approach is grounded in what academic internal medicine calls the diagnostic encounter: taking the time to listen, examine carefully, and think. In a conventional practice that time does not exist. At Sereno, it is the point of the model.

Clinical decisions are made by evidence — the USPSTF, major society guidelines, peer-reviewed literature — not by industry pressure, reflex algorithms, or a rushed schedule. When the evidence is ambiguous, that ambiguity is named and discussed openly with the patient.

Dr. Lopez is the only physician caring for members at Sereno Medicine. That is intentional. Continuity with one physician is one of the most consistently studied predictors of long-term outcomes in primary care.
